I'm in my office working on a saturday, having left my anger stoked daughter in a rage at home with my partner...I honestly don't know what to do about her - she'll be 10 years old next week, and unleashes vitupurative rage in violent outbursts, an ugliness I have never witnessed in anyone, much less children her age - I am shocked, embarrassed, deeply sad and frustrated.
My therapist says she must feel very alone and needs me to hold her, rock her, tell her everything's going to be alright. Her therapist says she needs a swift, firm gesture showing her who's boss. I know I need to find a way to reach her - but the ugly angry guard she puts up won't let me or anyone else through. I've heard of a book called "how to hug a porcupine" which might be worth a read.
I've decided to start this blog as writing therapy to help me cope.
